Thanks for the offer!? I am wondering if maybe a few of the guys would like to try something a little different this year.? On Memorial Day we rented one of the pontoon boats on Beech Fork Lake in Wayne County http://www.lrh.usace.army.mil/projects/lakes/BBF/.? At the last moment, I decided to take along my rig and telescopic vertical antenna and operate W8HC/MM for a bit just to see how I could do. Well I just played around for a while and made QSOs with New York (2 QSOs), Michigan (2 QSOs), Russia (RA3EG on 20m CW), Kansas, and Minnesota.? 

The pontoon boats are very nice and come in two sizes. I think the larger one is about a 20-footer and is designed to carry up to 15 people.? It rents for about $200 for the day.? The times of the contest would not allow a full operation from the boat but rather than a "serious" competition this year, maybe a W8AH recreational expedition and outing would be a possibility.? We could split the costs of the boat, bring some food and hope for sunshine and nice wx.? I can tell you it's a beautiful lake if you have never been there.?

Anyone interested?

That's when Nancy and I will be up in Michigan celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary, so I won't make it.? Dwight is going to lead the VE Testing in my absence that morning so I know he'll be in town and you could probably get him to open up the ham shack for you again this year. He did it last year when I was laid up from the accident.

Haven't heard anything about the 2008 WVQP next month but according to the WVSARC website (http://www.qsl.net/wvsarc/), the contest is on track for 1600z Saturday, June 14, 2008 through 0200z Sunday, June 15, 2008.? Will the W8AH callsign be?on the airwaves for this year's WVQP??
