Greg, that is good of you to offer the station use. Sounds like you have a great setup. Unfortunately, my stepson and XYL are up at WVU where he is having some medical tests, and I might have to go get them at any time this weekend. Can't get too far out of pocket, so better stick around the QTH.
I am working on getting my station setup. Being gone 100% of the time during the week (except for vacations, holidays and doc appointments) means there is only weekends to work on it, and I have been reluctant to spend the time on radio. My family would like to see me sometimes!
Actually, I am likely to retire from the present job within the next 6 to 7 months (perhaps sooner) and either quit working completely or find something to do here in WV so at least week nights can be spent at home.
I have most all the stuff, just need the time to assemble it. Antennas (still in boxes) are:
2 x Force 12 C31XR. I am going to stack these at about 60 and 30'. The reason for 2 antennas at such nominal heights is that HFTA says any higher on my hilltop would be too high. The stacks are to overcome some problems with higher hills in certain directions. Also, I want stacks to beam in multiple directions if I ever work another contest in my life seriously.
2 el Force 12 40 and 30M yagi will be on the top at about 65 to 68'.
Not sure what will be the permanent antenna on 160 and 80. Perhaps a vertical. Perhaps an Inv L. Maybe a dipole for 80 as well. These bands seem to work well now with wires in the trees and 100W. Tower is Rohn 45G. First section is in the concrete ready to go up with the rest.
Rigs: FT2000 w/DMU and FT1000D. Also have a TS850SAT and Omni V as backup. Will likely give one to my brother over in Boone Co if he ever gets off his duff and gets a license. I already gave him a mint Drake 4 line but so far that has not done the trick. He did buy some license manuals recently.
Amps: Alpha 76CA (used to belong to W8AH, purchased from K8RK in about 1985)
Ameritron AL-1500 (8877)
Amp Supply LK800 (3-3CX800)
SB220.
Rewired my shack for power (110/220 in metal conduit) already, so it is a matter of putting up the antennas and installing a permanent cable entrance into the house.
Hopefully, I can get this all done in the near future and make some noise on the bands! It might be after retirement from the current job though.

While traveling south on I 79, just north of Exit 1, I spotted a nice ham tower off to the right, some distance off of the interstate. Looked like a nice tribander at a fair height, topped by some VHF antennas. Might have been a monobander, didn't have much time to look. Since I am newly moved back to CRW, was just wondering if that is one of the WVDXA members? Conditions driving back from Morgantown (WVU) on the radio were up and down. Worked several EU and CT3. Managed 5B and got D44AC on the first call (all 20M). Worked several folks preparing for CW WPX this weekend. I need a dose of radio, so might play around from the mobile in the yard, or work a few with the temporary wires stuck in trees. 73 Charlie N8RR
