[WVDXA] Clipperton Hard Luck History

Here is a very interesting article written just before the FOØCI
DX'pedition to Clipperton in 1992. You can see that this is not a very
hospitable DX location.

http://www.qsl.net/clipperton2000/previous/cq-1992.html

BTW, I can personally confirm all the items mentioned for the 1985
trip, even the fact that some operators wanted to try to swim to shore just
to get on the air!

Then, here are two follow-up articles detailing what happened on the
1992 trip:

This is a list of operations which have taken place from Clipperton and
the QSO totals I was able to find from various sources on the WWW:

FOØ/F8UFT 2005 - only operated a few hours, one man, not able to go split.
Possibly only 60 QSO's

FOØAAA 2000 - made 75,107 QSO's

FOØCI 1992 - made 48,000 QSO's

FOØXX 1986 - made nearly 16,000 QSO's

FOØXX 1985 - made 31,000 QSO's

FOØXA thru FOØXH 1978 - made 29,000 QSO's

FO8AT 1958 - a month long operation using the "new" Collins KWM-1

FO8AN 1956 - Danny Weil

FO8AJ 1954 - made 1108 QSO's

And, finally, in researching the above, I stumbled across the TX5C
"French" web page. There are more photos here although the text is in
French:

It certainly looks like Clipperton is continuing its Hard Luck history
with the current TX5C operation.

Anyone in the WVDXA want to sign up for a trip to this island
paradise?
