[WVDXA] Email taken wrong

Greg,

You are absolutely right! When "typing" a message, it is very
difficult to put in any "body language", "voice inflection", "raised
eyebrow", "grin", or even a "pause" which you might do when speaking to
someone face to face. Heck, even in "face to face" communications I can't
tell what someone meant a lot of the time. In written communications, it's
at least 10 times more difficult.

And, when you are READING a message that someone else has typed, you
are influenced my your mood at the time you are reading it and by how
"carefully" you read it. Sometimes you just "skim" over an email quickly
and you grab a "sense" of what you "think" the guy was saying. You may be
right or you could be very off base. It's so difficult to tell.

John thought I had taken offense at his comment that I did not tell
"all" of what I knew about 6-M to Pete. In fact, I took his quote from his
shooting instructor of "Ill teach you "almost " everything I know" and
INVERTED it to say that I tell MORE than I know. I never for a moment
thought that John thought I was holding back something.

I probably should have read my response a little closer before I sent
it but I just thought it was a good vehicle to put the ball back in Pete's
court or even Phil's. John and I have so much "history" that it never
occurred to me that he would think I was offended by what he said, just
like he never thought that making that statement could offend me. Equal on
both parts.

Someday this email thing will be replaced by "voice mails" that we
just speak into the computer then hit send. A few years later, that will
be replaced by "video mails" where we just look into the camera on the
computer and send a video clip. So, we are now just a little beyond the
Stone Age of communicating where we can send an IM or an email to many
folks at once and it's quicker and easier than writing a letter and mailing it!
