Although technically I don't retire until July 31, as of yesterday I completed (hopefully) the last of my transitional activities at work, and can concentrate on other things now. The only thing remaining to do is drive to Cleveland and box up my papers. Good excuse to visit AES one more time next week.
Clark: I will call them to see if they will replace or copy the HFTA CD that I broke from the Antenna Book. I heard zip back from ARRL; guess the wrong people were asked.
I knew there was an antenna (yagi) here that was never assembled. Sometime or other, it came in a trade. Thought it was a small 3 el 10M, but it turns out to be a 12-4CD Cush Craft, which is a 4 el 12M yagi on an 18' boom. The box was dry rotted and tossed, but I think the hardware is all there. I am sorting it out now. I found the manual for it.
If I can figure out the element lengths with the tubing taper, this should work on 6M. My thought is to do the driven element first, adjust it to resonance with the MFJ 259, then scale the reflector and directors from that. It uses a gamma match. Should be able to modify that to work as well.
Anybody have any alternative ideas as to the best way to adjust this thing for 6? My antenna book had a program to calculate element lengths considering taper, but the CD got broken.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Yes, I could (and likely will) buy a M2 6M7JHV, but this thing is here, I have no interest in 12M, and I should be able to throw this together this weekend. I would like to hear a JA on 6M! HFTA says 10' will work great overlooking my steep hillside.
