Clark, one problem with trying to do it mobile, besides the obvious antenna gain issue, is lack of time spent receiving. I can see that a lot of monitoring is required.

Wow, 44 years and no JA heard on 6 meters for you until yesterday. That does not make me optimistic!

I can see that 6M is a lot more popular today than it was back in 1970, when I worked a VHF contest one time from K8MMM up in Novelty OH. Just look at all the interest in WVDXA. I think it is great, and am looking forward to participating in the fun.

You previously mentioned a M2 6M7JHV. It seems reasonably priced. I am looking at one of those.
I would appreciate comments from anyone who has a suggestion. I have a 5 el Hy Gain 10 and a 5 el Hy Gain 15 that were up in Louisiana. These were killer antennas there. I hope they play as well up here. The 10M yagi was good for a top ten finish in ARRL 10 M CW every time we seriously entered. It came in as high as #2 US. Maybe I will add the 6 M antenna to these Hy Gain yagis on a R 25 tower that is here to be installed, after the 45G with the C31XR tribanders/2 el 40/30 is completed.

HFTA says the 10/15 M yagis should not be installed very high on my hilltop, with steep sloping hill sides. I can probably make two towers out of the 60' 25G that is here. We will see what HFTA says about 6M. I have to verify that the software is rated to work at 50 Mhz, not sure.

You guys can't imagine how much I am looking forward to building my station and spending major time playing radio.

73, Charlie N8RR
