Charlie,

HEY, congratulations on Country No. 4 from the Mobile on 6-M. That's
a very good achievement for only about a week's work. Only 96 to go -
then, of course, you need to accumulate the QSL's or LoTW
confirmations. But, you are well on your way to a 6-M DXCC, Mobile no less.

The JA stations were coming in via multiple Es this time of year. I
suppose there may have been some other propagation mode involved as well
but everything I've heard points to multi-hop Es.

Tim, KC8UHE, had VERY good copy at times although a lot of deep
QSB. I was on the telephone with him and could copy the signal just
fine. He at least had a shot at working the JA and received back parts of
his callsign to indicate that the JA was hearing him but never enough to
call it a QSO. DARN! That would have been a heck of a birthday present
for him.

I'm still excited that I actually HEARD a JA station for the first
time in 44 years of working on 6-M. WOW! I did not have a shot at working
him but it sure was exciting nevertheless. Let me know if you want any
advice on a 6-M beam.
