Garry, thanks for the encouragement. I will keep plugging along. If Dave could hear me, guess the antenna is radiating.

Charlie:

I use a Hamstick on 6 meters from our motor home and it works quite well. I've worked XE, 8R, C6, CO, FM, HI, and PJ5 all mobile. Years ago I used a Hamstick on a car, back in the AM days, and worked many states on it. Doesn't take much when the magic band opens, but my guess is that your antenna isn't quite right for 50 mhz.

I use a six element beam at 60 feet when at home, but a simple quarter wave vertical, or even dipole, will bring the Q's.

Well, I have yet to make a /m 6M qso, but have been hearing some stuff. Last night, XE2WWW was holding forth on CW, while I was driving from Alum Creek to Southridge. He peaked about 569 and I had a couple of shots to call him, but he CQ'ed in my face, so he was not hearing me. This morning, I had solid copy on a CQ by the ZF2, but he was just above the noise level. Only heard him CQ one time. Also this AM, had solid copy on several CQ's from CY0X, at about 549, and called him a few times. Again, CQ back in my face. Maybe my screwdriver is acting like a dummy load? In addition, I heard K4PI working EU from EM73. I could not hear a trace of the DX. K4PI at times was 579, but lots of QSB. All of the morning activity was heard from my hilltop, with the Trailblazer in the driveway. Seems like the QTH hears OK, so a yagi should do the trick. I think a little better conditions are needed to make DX Q's with 100W from the mobile, and will keep listening. 73, Charlie N8RR
