Greg,
TNX for the tip on FO/OH1RX but by the time I got on frequency, I
think he was gone. I saw a spot at 0412 GMT saying he was still there but
when I listened at 0425 GMT, I heard nothing. Nothing from him and no one
calling him. I heard him some time later with KH7XS but he was not quite
good enough copy for me to call him.
I listened to him on 80-M CW last night for almost 3 hours hoping his
signal would improve but he was so weak I could never hear more than just
bits and pieces. At least it gave me some practice on trying to pull weak
ones out of the noise with the FT-1000MP MkV.
But, thanks to your email I did managed to work CE1/K7CA on 80-M
CW. That goes nicely with my 160-M QSO with him so I can get two
confirmations now for the price of one!
CONGRATULATIONS on finally getting your "Top of the Honor Roll"
award!!! That is one "heck" of an achievement.
I thought I had it 17 years ago but the dreaded "Not in Log" kept me
wanting "just one more." That was such a blow that I left DX'ing for 10
years.
So, I know how hard it is to work (and CONFIRM!) all the
countries. You are to be commended for such a fabulous achievement!
And, good job on working the J5C station on 160-M. Your story
reminded me of the Clint Eastwood line, "A man's got to know his
limitations." If you know your limitations, you can use them to your
advantage - as you did.
Keep up the good work and keep the rest of us on our toes chasing you.
