Clark:
You need to patent that tower/wire/feed configuration and start selling the
"TN Topbander Antenna."

I got to bed at a reasonable time last night (just after 2 a.m.) so I'm
feeling pretty normal today. While talking on the phone with my 160-M Guru,
KØCS, he asked if I had worked EL2DX (Liberia) that was operating on 160-M now.
I said "No" and Steve told me the guy was HUGELY loud last night in Colorado
and had a MONSTER pileup on him. Steve has never worked EL on Top Band and
told me that would be his 214th Country on 160-M if he could work him! (I
didn't know there were that many countries ON 160-M!)
So, I got off the phone and onto the radio. I could hear the EL, just
barely, and played in the pile for about 1/2 hour but he just kept getting weaker.
So, I gave up and went to help my wife take down Christmas decorations.
(It's always good to help the wife when you stay up nearly all night!)
An hour or so later I came back and could not hear the EL station. I
listened for about 10 minutes then barely could tell a station was there. He
slowly began to build, little by little and after about another 10 minutes, I
began calling. It took me 10 more minutes but I finally managed to hear him send
my call and report at 0206 GMT. YEAH, I beat my buddy to working EL!
(NOPE: KØCS logged him at 0151 GMT and said he was even loud on the 30-M dipole
out there in Colorado.) Oh, well, I made up for that struggle by moving down
the band and working MJ/F5CWU on Jersey Island just 5 minutes after working
the EL.
Then, about 1-1/2 hours later I walked into the shack and worked LZ2PEP in
Bulgaria on my first call. That is three NEW ones on Top Band tonight and
it's only 11 p.m. Do you think I might get to bed before midnight tonight?
