good deal phil,,, a good ground system is a must for an efficient antenna..
you may wish to take a gander at w8ji s website.... there is a total 
wealth of information there.
here at home in a 150 X 50 ft space, I have about 4000 ft of wire down 
for my dinky vertical. it is a beast to put down and take up every 
season and some day I want to  bury it and be done with it--
at the farm, I have 6000 ft buried wire in conjunction with the 90 ft 
top loaded vertical--it plays and plays well... to bury it , we used a 
tracker and a plow /wire spool thingy..  even at that , it took some 6 
hours and 3 people to spread
 and bury.

again good luck,,, w8ji  has a lot of info on a lot of things, and  the 
160 reflector is another good reference place.
