Subject: [WVDXA] WVDXA Meeting - Sat. Oct. 20 @ 6 p.m.
DX'ers,
Sorry I have not posted this sooner but we had a death in the family this week. Evelyn's 80-year old cousin passed away unexpectedly.
But, we pretty much have things back on track now for the next irregular meeting of the West Virginia DX Association. The group voted on the Blog Poll for the meeting to be held on Saturday, October 20th. I have picked the nominal start time of 6 p.m. Feel free to arrive earlier if you wish but DO NOT stand between Evelyn and the TV as she will be watching WVU beat Mississippi State! That game begins at 3:30 so if you are wearing your Gold and Blue, come early and root the Mountaineers to a victory.
I am planning on having this as a "picnic" style meeting like we did at the Museum in June. If anyone wishes to bring a covered (or un-covered) dish, please post here on the reflector what you plan to bring. I will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and brats plus condiments.
Here is a list of things you might choose from to bring:
Buns
Chips
Drinks
Desserts
Baked Beans - being brought by W8OI
Potato Salad
Cookies
Curried Opossum (a big hit at the Museum)
Pumpkin Pie (my favorite)
Your Choice
I will try to talk Evelyn into whipping up some of her World-famous "St. Brandon Island Hot Dog Chili" and I might even whip up a special "Clipperton Island Dessert" but no guarantees. Use your imagination and bring something so tasty there won't be any left to take home!
If I can work out the details, I plan an Internet presentation to showcase the WVDXA Blog. If you have not looked recently, the Blog changes almost daily. Don't forget to look in the Sidebar on the right for new links and other items. Here is the URL (which you should bookmark):

Of course, the meeting will also (as always) feature a group discussion of any and all DX related topics. If you have something to bring for "Show and Tell" like a new piece of gear, a nice QSL, an award, or anything else, please do so. But don't expect to see my station set up and operational. I'm still in the moving process so the ham shack is a "work in progress."
The meeting will be held at my home in Hurricane, WV. Directions to my new QTH can be found on my own Blog here:

Parking at the top of the driveway is a bit limited so I would ask that anyone who can walk up the driveway, please park on the street. That way those who have problems with hills can park on the same level as the house.
Finally, if you definitely plan to attend, please post here so that I can get an approximate attendance for the purchase of burgers, dogs and brats. And, as always, wives, girlfriends (but not together with wives!) and friends are welcome. Email or call W8TN with any questions.
Clark, W8TN
