>OK, I heard the voices of the multitudes crying out for a gathering of
>our order. We are long overdue on a meeting. Someone even mentioned,
>"barbecue"" or cookout/picnic or some such. Sounds great to me! So I
>am putting out this feeler to see what kind of response we get. Here's
>the plan; you guys pick the date.
>
>Since next weekend is Memorial weekend and the third and fourth
>weekends of June are the WV QSO Party and ARRL Field Day respectively,
>I am polling the delegation to see how everyone feels about getting
>together on either Saturday, June 2 or Saturday, June 9.
>
>"Getting together for what and where," you ask. Fair enough.

>By executive decree, this will "officially" be an installation barbecue
>to welcome Clark Stewart, W8TN as the new president of WVDXA. Yes,
>believe it or not, the accounting firm of Price-Waterhouse finally
>concluded the vote tally of ouir recent WVDXA election. I want to be
>the first to offer my congratulations to Clark for this stunning upset
>victory over his challengers. I think it only fitting that Clark be
>duly welcomed into this distinguished position with a rousing
>celebration that includes large quantities of meat, fine pastries and
>cold drink. At this time I want as many members as possible to join me
>as I pass on the WVDXA gravel. Sorry, but we don't have a gavel to
>give you at this time Clark. So we will be throwing a few rocks at you
>to prepare you for the position.
>
>And aside from the necessities required for installing Clark, who by
>the way, will have more than ample time on his hands to do the
>presidency the justice it deserves now that he has nearly completed the
>final phase of construction of his Taj Mah QTH. I am sure I speak for
>the rest of the club when I say I certainly look forward to the next 43
>installments of his excellent updates on the SteppIR project. I guess
>I am still trying to figure out how this thing is a "stealth" antenna
>when you have had concrete trucks, cranes, lumberjacks and throngs of
>helpers triapsing down over the hill behind your house. There wasn't
>this much activity involved in making the great pyramid. If your
>neighbors haven't figured out what's going on back there by now, we
>certainly don't want them working for the State Department, do we Dave
>K8MN? Now that I have digressed, let me get back to my intended point
>about the other important item on the agenda for the "business" portion
>of the meeting. That is to swap stories about the BS7H operation and
>celebrate the successes of our members who were fortunate enough to get
>through the pileups. I think we have a few stories to share. And for
>those of you that didn't make it, please join us and share your
>experience as well. I think it would be nice if we bring our spousal
>units or anyone else that you think would feel at home with "our kind"
>as we are sometimes described.
>
>So please, let me know your preferred date ASAP as well as time. Oh,
>location? The Museum of Radio and Technology in Huntington, WV.
>
>I look forward to hearing from you!
