We had WV History in the 5th Grade at Monroe Elementary School on the west
end of Huntington in the 50's... They might have had a Golden Horsepoo
award, but we never heard about it. I did do a kickass scrapbook thanks to
many trips to the "country" to harvest nature stuff. The "country" was
Milton. I think I even had some glass scraps in the book from Blenko. I even
remember the little red textbook... We all marveled at the picture of
Regurgetory Spring until we found out that meant

I think I took WV History in the 8th grade.
I don't remember much.
In Logan it was probably turned into "History of the UMWA".
Or maybe (Jerry) West Virginia History.
Highway in front of school is now WV route 44.
The Jerry West Highway.
I do remember the trip to the Capitol to see the Museum.
2 1/2 hours on the bus each way, 30 minutes in Museum.
