mine jammed because of the allen screw that holds the bearings in vibrated
into the bearing raceway and caused the jam.
Easily fixed, once you get the bearing on the bench. If they put the allen
screw thing on the outside, you would not have to take everything down to
fix it. I understand this is a common problem with Rohn bearings. Solution
is locktite on the allen screw.

Tnx Pete,
The thrust bearing is not needed the rotor is a Ham IV, it can handle 800
#s and my antennas on it weigh less than 150#s. I am kicking my self for
putting in in the system.
My rotor is in the middle of its range. It will turn 5 degrees west from
north and then turn to 5 degrees East from north. The rotor was new it
turned 360 degrees on my test bench. That is my basis fot the jammed
bearing.
anyone with thoughts about this?

I had a jammed thrust bearing. Pain in ass, had to dis-assemble
everything.
Cats is a good rotor place and W8GG has used Norms.
P5 looking better as Kim young (mentally) il is cooperating with
somebody.
If they could convince him he needs cell phones we would be set.
I will help with your antennas. I have never been to patriot and dont
know where it is.
I am too fat and old to climb but I can stand around, look stupid and
hold a rope.

Due to thunderstorms and a dinner party, I was not on today.
But the weekend has been great. I think most all of us got some new
countries. Even with my poor antenna system I worked 2 new ones Friday
evening.
I have been getting prices to due repairs on my antenna system and
will be contacting rotor repair people to try to find rebuilt rotors. I
think my tower problem is a jammed thrust bearing and not the rotor, but I
will have to have a rotor on hand just in case.
I will have a crane/or bucket truck when I due the repairs so I need
to have everyting on hand.
