DX'ers,

Today I received a QSL for a DX contact I made four days ago! Pretty
fast turn-around, huh? And, it's a new band/country for me as well.

Yep, it was on the Logbook of the World. A QSO I made with HB9CZF on
February 17th was confirmed today on LoTW and I can use that for any DXCC
awards immediately.

Remember, I got this confirmation and I did not have to fill out and
mail a QSL and it cost me ZIP, NADA, NOTHING, in postage. It will cost me
a few cents to apply it to my DXCC standings (about $0.15 I think) but that
beats having to send an airmail envelope and a couple of green stamps or
waiting a year or more for the Buro to deliver the QSL.

As an aside, I mailed a QSL to a station's U.S. QSL Manager just two
weeks ago using the address I found on QRZ.com for the manager and it was
returned marked "Not at this address." So, I wasted a stamp there and now
have to find the guy's real address if I want a QSL.

If you are not already using LoTW, maybe you want to think about
it. It's pretty easy to set-up, and free, until you apply your contacts
for an award.

Also, in the contest I was using the FREE N1MM contest logging
program with SpotCollector which identifies PacketCluster spots for
stations that are known to be users of Logbook of the World. So, I already
was expecting this QSL since the spot for HB9CZF was highlighted in yellow
on my screen during the contest. Here is what a portion of that logging
screen looked like so you can see how the LoTW users stand out:

Now if I can just get my Internet remote-controlled station operating
from the Philippines before BS7H comes on the air . . .
