[WVDXA] ARRL Approves 5A7A

Guys,

      The ARRL has approved the November 15 to November 30, 2006, operation 
from Libya by 5A7A.  Here is the link to the DXCC Weblog:

      Also, the Southern California DX Club voted last night to draft a 
letter to ARRL and CQ magazine condemning the German amateur radio 
operators for holding the 5A7A expedition under the restrictions imposed by 
the Libyan government.  Further they will suggest that the 5A7A QSL cards 
not be honored for CQ or ARRL awards.  However, the club was almost evenly 
divided on this issue with only a slight majority in favor of writing the 
letter of protest.

      I received this last information in personal correspondence with a 
friend of mine in Southern California and he further comments:

>not alone in his plea for an apolitical amateur radio hobby.


      Looks like your message has reached more than a few people Hal.  Keep 
it up.
