Gents,

It isn't right that this sort of thing takes place in amateur radio but 
it is not new by any means.  A number of Arab countries prohibit their 
radio amateurs from contacting Israel and have done so for decades.

We can also go back a few decades to recall that our own FCC had a few 
countries appearing on the banned countries list.  U.S. amateurs were 
forbidden to contact Vietnam for example.  For a period, Thailand 
appeared on that list.  From the late 1930's through America's entry 
into WWII, U.S. hams were forbidden to contact most European countries 
even though we weren't at war with any of them.
