Great job Clarkster. I don't think you need the stepper.

This is how a DX'er puts in his time - patiently waiting and watching for that elusive new one. . .

Still in need of an SSB QSO with FJ, I saw a spot which said Martii was QRX for 1 hour then he would work the U.S. So, just before that hour was up I prepared my station so that I was "locked and loaded" on 20-M SSB with 1500 watts into my 160-M Inverted "L" (which had a 5.37:1 SWR on 14.2 MHz.) I then sat and patiently listened to 14.195 for Martii to return and start working the Deserving.

After a little more than 1-1/2 hours of listening, scanning with the second VFO and watching the cluster, Martii had not returned and I sadly left the station to do some work and eat lunch myself. After another hour I returned to the radio to hear Martii just starting up SIMPLEX. Well, that didn't last long and when he announced he was listening "200 to 210", I was ready and I pounced. But, he worked someone else, then another someone else. I frantically started tuning between 200 and 210 to see where he was listening as I had "assumed" he would start on 200.

Then he called for a WØ a couple of times and there was apparently no response. So then he asked "W8?" Well, I slammed the second VFO back to close to 200 and gave my call. Yep, he heard me! A nice (short) QSO followed and I logged FJ on 20-M SSB. Whew! Why does this stuff still make me sweat after 43 years?

That gives me a 20-M and 40-M CW QSO and a 20-M SSB QSO so I guess I'm done until Sunday night when they may show up on 80-M.

I hope all the WVDXA who need this for a new one have scored their own QSO's as well as those of you who needed E4. GL to all the WVDXA deserving!
