OK, I admit it, I'm an idiot and I just let the world know about it.  I
"thought" I knew what I was doing with the "new" FT-1000MP MkV but I
just screwed up.  I had it in Dual Receive but did NOT change the
transmit from the A-VFO.  So, when I tried to call the E4 on 80-M CW, I
was calling right on his frequency.  DUH!

He was very weak and I had the sharpest filter in line and called 4 or
5 times before I copied someone sending my call and UP!!!  Yep, I
screwed up!  Oh, well, I'll go bury my head in the sand for a bit.

Anyway, about 10 or 15 minutes later (after reading the manual some
more!)  I managed to work him on 80-M CW (at 0452 Z) for a NEW one on
80-M.  I already have the E4 confirmed on CW from back in 2000.

Congratulations to Bert, N8NN, and Greg, W8GG, who got there before I
did.  Good job guys.

It sure is nice to be able to hear both the DX and the pileup at the
same time - just as long as you remember to watch where you are
transmitting.

Clark, W8TN
Ready for the E4 on 160-M!

Inverted "V" at 65-feet, 1500 watts, FT-1000MP MkV w/Inrad filters
incl. roofing filter
