Some of you may remember me posting a comment last winter about working a
station on South Orkney Is. And the station not being good for DXCC (the
operator was on South Orkney Is. but he had let his Argentine license expire).

Well, today I received my latest DXCC application credits, stickers, etc.

Well, on the Credit Slip, under "the following cards have not been credited
for the indicated reason" was a REAL SURPRISE:

I had sumitted an LU qsl for credit of working LU on 20 meters. They
rejected the qsl and said to "resubmit to clarify". I dug the card out of the
box and sure enough, the QSL was LU1ZA - South Orkney Islands. I had blindly
received the card (back in 1990, no less) and submitted it as Argentina.

The real problem was: the card did NOT say South Orkney but Base Naval
"Orcadas". Which is on South Orkney.

I guess we live and learn. But what great news.

That gives me 318 confirmed Mixed now.

READ YOUR CARDS (old & new ones) WELL. You may find some interesting
discoveries.

p.s. I submitted the application at The Mill on August 25, it was entered
into the DXCC system on Sept. 5, I was credited with the countries on Nov. 28
and received in the mail today Dec.10. That gives you all an idea of the time
line for applications.
