Jeff,
I did not have a chance to comment on your antenna earlier. Looks
like you put up a doozy! And, I think you did a better job than I did (at
least your's worked right off the bat!)
Congratulations on the great showing in the contest. I only played
S&P looking for new countries but if I saw a WV station spotted, I tried to
give him a call. I also worked the following WV stations:
K8JQ (turns out we were in College together!)
N2EE
W8PBO (a good friend from Ravenswood)
K8OQL (a WVDXA Member!)
I think I had 46 QSO's of which 21 were DX. Final score was just
over 5,000 points.
My BIG news is that I worked FOUR NEW Countries and TWO NEW Zones in
the contest. I worked 9A2DQ and GM3POI for new countries and I worked
KL7WV (nice call!) in Zone Ø1 and RWØCWA in Zone 19 (Asiatiac Russia!) The
RWØCWA contact completes my 160-M W.A.C. in just 9 days on the band. WHOOPEE!
So Jeff, looks like we started something here in the WVDXA by putting
up "not the best" antennas and managing to work some good stuff. I know
Tim, KC8UHE, put up an Inverted "V" combo (80-M & 160-M) and I think he
made at least a couple of QSO's in the contest as well.
CONGRATULATIONS on getting on 160-M for the contest. I sure hope you
get as much enjoyment out of this band as I'm having.
Clark, W8TN
66 Countries Now on 160-M
