*Macclesfield Bank* or *Zhongsha Islands* (Chinese 
</wiki/Chinese_language> ???? Pinyin </wiki/Pinyin>: Zhongsha Qundao, 
literally /Central Sand Islands/) is an elongated atoll of underwater 
reefs and shoals in South China Sea </wiki/South_China_Sea> and part of 
the disputed South China Sea Islands </wiki/South_China_Sea_Islands>. It 
is claimed by the People's Republic of China 
</wiki/People%27s_Republic_of_China>, the Republic of China 
</wiki/Republic_of_China>, and Vietnam </wiki/Vietnam>. It is located 
east of the Paracel Islands </wiki/Paracel_Islands>, distantly southwest 
of the Pratas Islands </wiki/Pratas_Islands> and north of the Spratly 
Islands </wiki/Spratly_Islands>.

There are no military stations there. It's a rich fishing ground and 
difficult to navigate due to the shallow submerged reefs.

The elongated atoll consists of:

    * Carpenter Shoal (????)
    * Oliver Shoal (????)
    * Bangkok Shoal (????)
    * Siamese Shoal (????)
    * Cathay Shoal (????)
    * Penguin Shoal (???)
    * Balfour Shoal (???? or ????)
    * Pigmy Shoal (????)
    * Egeria Shoal (???)
    * Howard Shoal (????)
    * Philips Shoal (????)
    * Learmonth Shoal (????)
    * Plover Shoal (????)
    * Smith Shoal (????)

To the east, near the Philippines, there are:

    * Truro Shoal (????)
    * Stewart Shoal (????)
    * Scarborough Shoal/Nanyan Dao/Huangyan Dao (??? or ???)
    * Huangyan Seamount (????)
    * Shixing Seamount (????)
    * Xianbei Seamount (????)
    * Xiannan Seamount (????)
    * Zhangzhong Seamount (????)
    * Zhenbei Seamount (????)

To the south, near the Spratlys, there are:

    * Zhongnan Shoal (????)
    * Zhongnan Seamount (????)
    * Longnan Seamount (????)
    * Changlong Seamount (????)
