Oliver N. Rinehart
Oliver N. "Olie" Rinehart (WD8V), 76, born September 24, 1930, went to
sleep peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2006.
Beloved husband and devoted father, Oliver is survived by his wife of 51
years, Louise Ann of South Charleston; three sons and daughters-in-law,
Jeffrey and Robin of Belle, Stephen and Laura of Cross Lanes, and Gregory
and Lora of Emmons; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Oliver is also survived by his three brothers, Bernie of Leigh High Acres,
Fla., Bennie of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Wayne of Charlotte, N.C.
Oliver was preceded in death by his father, Col. Oliver Rinehart Sr.; and
mother, Mildred L. Galusha.
Oliver graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended West Virginia
University. Oliver retired from the WV Department of Highways, was a Boy
Scout leader, a member of the Spring Hill Lions Club, and Rock Lake
Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of the Amateur Radio Relay
League and Amateur Radio Emergency Services. He was a past president of
Kanawha Amateur Radio Club, currently held the position of Roanoke division
assistant director and WV assistant section manager, as well as vice
president of the West Virginia State Amateur Radio Council, a recipient of
the Roanoke division ARRL Service Award, WV Amateur of the Year and Kanawha
Valley Amateur of the Year awards.
Oliver will be cremated and at his request, there will be no service.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations
to the West Virginia State Amateur Radio Council, in care of president,
Patrick Shea, N8MIN, 27 Jackson St., Weston, WV 26452.
Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, is assisting the family with arrangements.
