Hey Alan,
Congratulations on landing the KH8SI!  Sometimes it is best to do what you did and just to walk away for a while and then come back when you are not so frustrated.  
 
I wrote an article one time about the 3 P's of DXing...  Persistence, yep you got that; Patience, yep you got that too as you took a break and came back in your own time; and finally Power... hmmm... yep you oughta get an amp.  If you already have a gain antenna you should get an amp.  Believe me, it will be a welcome addition to your shack.  Unless you want to continually challenge and test your Patience and Persistence.
 
Way to go Alan..... Pleasant dreams til the next one because DX Never Sleeps.

Well I had just about given up on Swain's I.  Left the shack in a very frustrated mood.  Tuner-uppers, policeman and general idiots !  Went out a mowed grass for an hour and came into the shack and nailed them after about 10 mins. on 18.135.  
 
Persistance does pay off.  I guess that 90 watts does work after all.  Gotta get an amp.  Gotta get an amp. Gotta get an amp.  I keep telling myself that.
 
I figure I am about the last one in the WVDXA to get KH8SI but I kinda figured that would be the case.  Oh well, I am very happy !  I can sleep well tonight.
